The Week in Review

We haven't really done anything exciting enough to warrant posting this week so I decided to combine it all into one post!
Sunday we went to Higginsville to celebrate Proffitt's 7th birthday. Proffitt is Ben's oldest cousin whose actual birthday is July 23rd. Ben had a lot of fun playing with his cousins and eating ice cream sundaes.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty quiet days. Our only exciting event was a playdate with Sam, Julia and Sophie on Wednesday afternoon!
On Thursday morning we went to the library to see a puppet show called "Flossie and the Fox." Ben was excited to see his friend "Baby Kai" at the library and he loved looking at the fish tank!

On Thursday we met with out builder at our new house site because they had started the framing process and we had a decision to make regarding the front elevation/roofline of the house. Here is a photo of the beginning of the framing process, which they said should be done in about 2 weeks!

Friday morning we went to Mercury Gym to play with our friends on all of the fun equipment like the foam pits and trampoline floors! I tried to get pictures, but for whatever reason I am totally unable to get even remotely decent pictures of Ben in that Gym. The lighting must be funky or something! This photo of Ben trying to climb out of the foam pit is the best I could do:
This morning (Sunday) Ben and I spent a quiet morning at home since I am unable to take him to church by myself. He found Daddy's sandals and was being just too adorable trying them on and attempting to walk around the house in them:

A Day at Deanna Rose

This past Friday we took a trip to the Deanna Rose Farmstead with Ben's best buddies Sam, Sophie and Julia and their mommy Laney. We were lucky to have an overcast day so it wasn't too hot for us to enjoy it. We started off looking at all the farm animals but Ben was not impressed and was actually quite scared of the sheep and goats. Anytime one would stick its head out of the fence he would cry!

The farmstead also features some fun playground areas, which Ben and his friends thoroughly enjoyed! Near the playground was a water area where the kids could take their shoes off and splash in the water. Ben, of course, wanted nothing to do with this given his fear of water!

We ate our picnic lunch in the back of our truck so that we would be able to keep all the kids in one spot! This worked out well, although Ben did get filthy dirty from the black mat that covers the bed of the truck (a wet wipe bath took care of the problem!).

After lunch we headed back into the park and spent most of the rest of our visit riding on the little tractor pedal cars. The kids all loved this part! I'll be anxious to see how much more fun they think it is once they learn to pedal the tractors!

We also had to try and get a picture of all four of them together, which as you can imagine was not an easy feat, but we did pretty good!

Library Fun

This morning we went to the Parkville Library to see a bird show. We got there a few minutes late and were too far away for Ben to see the birds well so he lost interest quickly. He wandered over to the children's book section and had a lot of fun looking at new books (all with a transportation theme of course) and reading them. I am hoping that Ben will develop my love of reading!

Future Pharmacist

This evening we went to see Daddy at work. Ben loves visiting Daddy when he is working! Maybe we have another pharmacist in the family????

Little All Star

In honor of the Baseball All Star game being held tonight at Yankee Stadium Ben wore his baseball jammies to bed! Kevin also tells me that today is the 100th anniversary of the song "Take Me Out To the Ballgame," which I didn't know but makes his jammies even more appropriate! Ben also has a freakishly good arm---he throws very hard and straight. Maybe he will be a baseball player someday!

A Quiet Day

Today was a relatively quiet day for us, which is nice once in a while! We went to the library this morning so Ben could pick out some new books to read. He chose almost all Thomas the Train books and looked at them all the way home saying "Choo choo!" On our way home we went by our new house to check on the progress and found that they had poured the cement for the garage and basement floors. I am guessing that they will start the framing anytime now.
After Ben's nap (which was cut very short because his grandparents came by to see him) we played outside until Daddy got home. He loves playing in the rocks under the deck and throwing them all over the patio, which drives his Daddy crazy!

11 Years!

Can you believe that we have been married 11 years today?? It seems completely unreal!
